Sabang & Underground River

Long known for its fantastic pristine white sand beaches and stunning reefs, the Philippines is now becoming well known for some of its other amazing natural wonders, a number of which now appear on UNESCO’s World Heritage List like the world's longest underground river system that is accessible to man which can be found near Sabang on the island of Palawan. The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is Palawan's most popular attraction and covers 5,349 hectares of lush forest, dark mountains, caves, and white beaches. Here you can take a trip along the snaking, underground river that winds its way through five miles of limestone caves and ultimately leads to a clear lagoon. In the National Park you can also walk along the Monkey Trail, a series of wooden paths that wind through the forest, lined with a multitude of tropical flora and fauna that includes some wonderful, and rare, birdlife.
