The Bamboo Travel Team

Tim Milner

The founding director of Bamboo Travel, Tim Milner, started his love affair with all things Asian in 1991 whilst travelling around Thailand & Hong Kong. It was on this trip that he became enthralled with the wonderful combination of culture, food, scenery, people and beaches that the region has to offer. As a result, since that first venture into this exciting part of the world, Tim has devoted much of his leisure time travelling in China & Southeast Asia and has developed a great passion for, and expertise in, the region.

After leaving Hayes & Jarvis, one of the UK’s leading long haul tour operators, after eleven years with the company, Tim seized the opportunity to set up a niche tour operator specialising in holidays to the Far East. The aim being to offer bespoke itineraries that allow clients to get the most out of their time in the region and also to experience some of the magic that abounds in this amazing part of the world.

Robin Ball

An adventurer at heart, Robin has dedicated much of his personal and working life exploring far flung corners of the world. After studying Cultural Geography at University he embarked on his travels, taking in much of South America, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. On returning home in the late 90’s Robin made a career out of a passion, by working and travelling for two of the UK’s leading tour operators, firstly as a tailor made tour consultant, and more recently as a Far East Product Manager. His most memorable travel experiences include a luxurious journey on the Eastern & Oriental Express, trekking the Great Wall of China, being a guest at a state banquet in Mongolia, completing a PADI dive course near Banda Aceh, staying at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore and travelling by motorbike from Hanoi to Sapa. Throughout his time working with and travelling in the Far East, Robin has built up a network of friends and close contacts that can be called upon to help create exceptional travel experiences for the guests of Bamboo Travel. In his spare time Robin enjoys many sports especially cricket, fishing and mountain biking, as well as music, cooking and, most of all, spending time with his young family.

Our Pricing Policy

We have included a number of sample itineraries on our website and each has been given a guide price which is based on a specific departure date and is subject to the availability of flights and accommodation. The prices shown are per person based on two people travelling together and sharing a twin or double room throughout. The price includes international flights to and from the UK, local and international flights in the Far East, accommodation, transfers and land transportation in a private air-conditioned vehicle, guide, driver, entrance and boat fees and meals as described. The price does not include visa fees, airport departure taxes, tips or any personal expenses.

We have not included prices elsewhere on the website as prices can vary enormously for bespoke itineraries. There are a number of factors which will influence the price of your itinerary. These include the number of clients travelling, the standard of hotels (we offer a variety of standards from Medium to Deluxe), the season, the length of your trip, the cabin class and the airline used, the level of guiding required and the complexity of your itinerary.

Once we have all your requirements we will be able to give you an accurate price for your bespoke itinerary.

Our Privacy Policy

In order to process your booking and to ensure that your travel arrangements run smoothly and meet your requirements we and your travel agent need to use the information you provide such as name, address, any special needs / dietary requirements etc.

We take full responsibility for ensuring that proper security measures are in place to protect your information. We must pass the information on to relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements such as airlines, hotels, transport companies etc. The information may also be provided to security or credit checking companies, public authorities such as customs / immigration if required by them or as required by law.

Additionally, where your holiday is outside the European Economic Area (EEA), controls on data protection in your destination may not be as strong as the legal requirements in this country. We will not, however, pass any information on to any person not responsible for part of your travel arrangements. This applies to any sensitive information that you give us such as details of any disabilities, or dietary / religious requirements. If we cannot pass this to the relevant suppliers, whether in the EEA or not, we cannot provide your booking. In making this booking, you consent to this information being passed on to the relevant persons. Where information is also held by your travel agent, this is subject to your agent’s own data protection policy.

You are entitled to a copy of your information held by us. If you would like to see this please contact us. We may make a small charge for providing this to you.
