Just like the Thailand, Myanmar has three major seasons. The cool season runs from November to February, the hot season from March until the beginning of June (with peak temperatures around 45 degrees Celsius) and the rainy season from the middle of June to October. During the rainy season about four fifths of the total annual precipitation is received.
The best time to visit Myanmar is from November to March when temperatures are relatively low and when there is little rain. Note that in December and January the temperature can drop to near freezing at night in the highlands around Kalaw, Pindaya, Taunggyi and Inle Lake. In April and May temperatures often top 40 degrees centigrade in Yangon but in Mandalay, as well as in Bagan, it can be even hotter! The monsoon starts between mid-May and mid-June bringing frequent rains particularly in the southern as well as western region of Myanmar and lasts until October. The beach hotels tend to close during this period.
