Escape to Oman (8 days)
This is an easy paced itinerary for those who need to escape and recharge their batteries, but at the same time get a taste for Oman and all the wonderful things it has to offer. Fly direct into Muscat and spend three nights at a superior resort on the coast, taking two days to explore Muscat, firstly with a private driver-guide and then on a private dhow (traditional boat) cruise. This is followed by 24 hours in Wahiba Sands, spending the night in a tented desert camp and indulging in a range of desert activities such as dune bashing, tea with a Bedouin family and camel riding. Return to Muscat for your last three nights and relax in one of Oman’s best beach hotels.

Private transfer to your hotel: After passing through immigration and collecting your luggage at Muscat Airport, you will be met and welcomed to Oman before being transferred to your hotel. An early room check-in will be requested but is subject to availability on arrival.

Guided tour of Muscat: At the agreed time today, you will be taken on a guided tour to see some of Muscat’s highlights including the Grand Mosque (only open in the mornings, Saturday to Thursday), the Amouage Perfume Factory, the Opera House, Al Alam Palace, Jalali & Mirani Forts and the famous Mutrah Souq. Return to your hotel in the early afternoon to relax by the pool or explore further independently.

Al Jalali Fort & Sultan Palace, MuscatExplore the Muscat coastline in a private boat: After breakfast, you will be met at your hotel and transferred to the jetty at Bandar Al Rowda Marina to board your private dhow (boat) for a memorable day out. On your cruise today you will pass the Palace, the Muttrah area and the main port of Muscat before visiting the beach suburbs of Al Bustan and Qantab. On arrival at Qantab Beach you will disembark your Dhow and enjoy time relaxing or having fun on the beach. A delicious barbecue lunch on the beach is included today as are soft drinks for the entire day.

Qantab BeachRoad journey to Wahiba Sands, via Wadi Bani Khalid: After breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer into the desert to your camp in Wahiba Sands. After around 3 hours you can stop to visit Wadi Bani Khalid, a well-known wadi which maintains a constant flow of water throughout the year. Continue on for another hour until you reach your desert camp in Wahiba Sands.
Afternoon desert activities: After settling into the camp, you will have the opportunity to do some desert activities such as light dune-bashing in a 4x4, hiking and camel riding. As the light draws in, you will be treated to a romantic sunset over the dunes before enjoying dinner by the camp fire. After dinner, be sure to look up at the nights sky and see how many stars you can count!

Road journey to Muscat: If you have risen early to witness the sunrise, return to the camp to freshen up and enjoy breakfast before meeting your driver and setting off on the road journey back to Muscat, where you will check-in to your beach hotel and relax for the rest of the day. Your road journey today is approximately 250km and, depending on traffic and road conditions, the driving time should be around three hours.
