Nagaur

Equidistant between Jaisalmer (five hours to the west) and Delhi (the same to the east), and Jodhpur (three hours south) and Bikaner (three hours north), Nagaur is a Rajasthani crossroads of sorts. This is a small city of some 110,000 people which is first and foremost an administrative and trading centre rather than a tourist hotspot. It is nonetheless an interesting and convenient stop-off point as you make your way around Rajasthan, with one major point of interest: the gorgeous 4th century Ahichhatragarh Fort. Also known colloquially as Nagaur Fort, the site is managed by the Mehrangarh Fort Trust, and as a cultural site is equally well-preserved and well-managed as its sister fort in Jodhpur.
