The mighty Brahmaputra river in Northern India originates high in the Himalayas before flowing through the scenic Assam Valley where UNESCO protected national parks and remote rural communities provide the traveller with the most wonderful and authentic expedition.

The MV Mahabaahu is a comfortable vessel, run in partnership with Pandaw Cruises, which is specially designed to ply these waters. Built in Kolkata in 2011, the ship is 55m long and 10m in width and powered by three engines and four generators. There are a total of 23 cabins which are split across the first and second decks; in addition there is a main deck housing a 50-cover restaurant, cafe, lounge, bar, and library; a lower deck equipped with a massage room, sauna, salon, and jacuzzi; and an upper sun deck with a small pool and wide seating area.

The Mahabaahu is staffed by an experienced crew and a knowledgeable expedition team, who take guests on safaris by small boat, jeep and even elephant in search of the Greater One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros and Indian tiger. Fascinating shore excursions are also made to visit the ‘Mishing’ people who live on the world’s largest river island, tea plantations and to many exotic Satras.
