Manali, and the surrounding Kullu Valley, is a stunningly beautiful destination and something of an adventure playground. With a host of activities on offer – including rafting, hiking, climbing, mountain-biking, and skiing – there is something here to suit all tastes. With such a range of activity available, Manali is seen as a ‘year-round’ destination, especially with an amenable climate which is never too cold, or warm, or wet. Originally a backpacker haven, the town is now very popular with domestic tourists and can become overrun in the established high seasons in mid-Spring and mid-Autumn. However, staying in a peaceful lodge outside of the town quickly gets you away from the crowds – leaving time free to explore the picture-perfect valley, indulge in activities, and perhaps soak into a bubbling natural hot spring.
