The Gangtey Lodge is a wonderful addition to the luxury scene in Bhutan and offers a high level of comfort and well as a spectacular setting and sweeping views over the whole Phobjikha Valley. Designed by Mary Lou Thomson, the lodge draws its inspiration from Bhutanese rural architecture, and aspects of the vibrant local culture, but has used imported fixtures and furnishings that complement the indigenous style. As a result the twelve beautifully appointed guestrooms, each with their own cozy fireplace, reflect the rich cultural heritage with warm fabrics and earthen tones but modern bathrooms. The focal point of the lodge is an informal lounge and dining space with wall to ceiling views of the valley below. Plush leather sofas and rich fabrics are set around two impressive fireplaces encased in local stone. The lodge acts as a luxurious base to explore the Phobjikha Valley as well as Gangtey itself.
