Suncheon itself is a medium-sized city situated roughly halfway between Busan and Gwangju. However, it acts as an ideal jumping off point for exploring Korea’s green, hilly, and thoroughly peaceful southern areas. Hadong County is among the most beautiful in the country, with picture-postcard scenery and idyllic villages such as Hwagae and Champandaek. Sancheon-gun is also home to the impressive Mt Jirisan – believed by some Koreans to be among their three holiest mountains, of equal reverence to both Seoraksan and Hallasan.
