The Deccan Odyssey (14 days)
The Deccan Odyssey was launched in 2004 as a luxury train service to rival the legendary Palace on Wheels, but instead focussing on the rich scenery, historical treasures, and cultural delights of southern and central India. Ripe with romance, adventure and style, each deluxe rail tour with the Deccan Odyssey is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This particular itinerary focuses on the historical treasures of Maharashtra and Karnataka, taking the awesome Ajanta and Ellora caves, the breath-taking ruins of Hampi, and the Islamic heritage sites of Bijapur. A stop is also made at Hyderabad - a bustling, dazzling city and home to finest biryani on the planet – and in between one can enjoy an ever-changing landscape, slipping between tropical jungle, verdant hills, and rocky lunar plains. Our version of this itinerary begins with a couple of nights in Mumbai and then finishes kicking back on the beach down in laidback Kerala.
