Amankora Bumthang

Combining aman, the Sanskrit-derived word for ‘peace', and kora or ‘circular pilgrimage' in Bhutanese, Amankora, is a unique circuit of lodges set throughout the Kingdom of Bhutan's central and western valleys. The Amankora Bumthang has the most prestigious address of the five lodges as it sits just on the edge of the royal compound in the Chokhor Valley. Accessed through an impressive stone-clad hallway, the 16 suites are situated in four separate structures, each containing two suites on the ground floor and two on the upper floor. Each suite features wood-panelled interiors, a traditional bukhari, king-size bed, terrazzo-clad bath, shower, twin vanities and a daybed overlooking the courtyard and nearby Wangdichholing Palace and monastery. The resort facilities include a lounge area, a library & games room, a restaurant, a spa with myriad treatments and mountain bicycles for local exploration. Excursions can be arranged at the hotel.

Our Opinion

Overlooking the Wangdichholing Palace and monastery, the Amankora Bumthang offers the only luxury accommodation in this part of the country.
