Chambal Safari Lodge
The Chambal Safari Lodge is an hour's drive east of Agra, found in a secluded rural enclave not far from the new Delhi-Agra-Lucknow expressway. The lodge is a peaceful oasis of tranquillity and hospitality; combining the comfort of modern amenities, with the warmth of a traditional home. There are thirteen cottages, all constructed with an eco-friendly approach and sympathetic to their natural surroundings. The rooms vary in size and can be adapted to suit families of all ages. The beautiful old trees, extensive gardens, and the restored buildings of the late 18th century stable block provide idyllic settings for leisure time and for mealtimes. The lodge kitchen uses fresh, organically-grown ingredients sourced directly from local farmers to prepare a tantalising spread of authentic delights at every meal. The real highlight of a stay at Chambal is taking part in a variety of thoughtfully curated activities, which include boat safaris on the nearby Chambal river (excellent for gharial, turtles, occasional river dolphins, and a huge array of birdlife), camel safaris, village walks, or a visit to nearby Bateshwar - a 'mini Varanasi' of mesmerising temples and bathing ghats.
