Taj Falaknuma Palace

The Taj Falaknuma is a serious contender for the most opulent hotel in India. The palace was commissioned in the late 19th century by the Nizam of Hyderabad, thought to be the richest man on the planet at the time, with no expense spared in its design and construction. The palace fell into disuse in the 20th century, before coming under management of the Taj group; under the guidance of Nizami princess Esra Jah a 10-year project of painstaking restoration culminated in a lavish re-opening in 2010. Now a luxury heritage hotel to rival any in Rajasthan or Mumbai, the Falaknuma is the embodiment of sumptuous living, fine dining, and unparalleled service.
