The Strand Hotel is one of Southeast Asia’s finest heritage hotels, and was a landmark in the days of colonial Burma welcoming the likes of Noël Coward, Rudyard Kipling and Orson Welles. Whilst you can still get a sense of its colourful history, the property has undergone extensive renovations in 2017 giving it a new look, and a new swagger, which brings the Strand experience bang up to date.

Located in Yangon’s main commercial district on Strand Road, near the waterfront overlooking Yangon River (45 minutes drive from the airport), the hotel offers a variety of Superior, Executive & Deluxe suites on its upper floors. All the suites offer full amenities such as satellite TV, individually controlled air-conditioning, bathtub, telephone, hair dryer, mini-bar, safety box as well as a separate sitting room. A personal butler is on call 24 hours a day. Fine dining is celebrated in the evenings by candlelight at the Strand Restaurant - a delightful dining room with marble inlaid floor and high vaulted ceiling. Afternoon Burmese tea is served in the nostalgically decorated Strand Cafe, and the original Strand Bar (now called Sarkies Bar - after the the original owners and founders of the hotel) continues to offer classic cocktails and sundowners. From November 2017 the Strand will have a swimming pool which will doubtless be a joy to new and returning guests alike.
