Seogwipo is situated just 26km due south of Jeju city, but with a volcanic interior in the way road journeys between take just over an hour. Seogwipo is altogether a more charming, tourist-focused area with a distinctly slower pace. The island’s best hotels are spread across the surrounding south coast, with accommodation ranging from simple local guesthouses to the full representation of luxury international chains, with a sprinkling of smaller boutique properties in between. Either side of the city there is great walking and cycling available, with the rugged coastline punctuated by sweeping beaches and picturesque waterfalls.
