Pemuteran & Menjangan
The remote coastal village of Pemuteran is a laid back place with a spectacular backdrop of high forested peaks to the south and the tranquil waters of the Bali Sea to the north. The black sands and remote location near the far north western tip of the island have kept major development and the crowds away, but those who make the effort to get here will be utterly charmed by the area's relaxed Balinese ambience and at times benefit from the drier climate.
Pemuteran has a number of first rate hotels, and is an ideal base for excursions to West Bali National Park which covers Menjangan Island and the uplands of the interior. Menjangan Island has some of the most pristine coral reefs in Bali, and with calm clear waters is a superb spot for snorkelling and diving. Located less than an hour from the port of Gilimanuk, Pemuteran is an ideal place to break the overland journey from Java.
