Around 250km east along the coast from Muscat, you will find the Ras Al Jinz, the Eastern most point of the Arabian Peninsula and Oman’s most important turtle-nesting beach. Ras Al Jinz encompasses an 80km long stretch of the coast which has been made into a nature reserve for the protection of Green Sea Turtles. All year round it is possible to see female turtles coming onto the beach and laying their eggs, although the summer months of July and August are best to see the baby turtles hatching. Ras Al Jinz has a modern visitor centre, with a turtle museum but most visitors stay at the Turtle Beach Resort, a few kilometres up the road at Ras Al Hadd.
