The trip begins with 2 nights in Thailand’s dynamic capital, Bangkok. You’ll have time to recover from your flight and discover the city’s most fascinating sites using the comprehensive public transportation system. Leave the city behind to spend a few nights relaxing in floating accommodation on the River Kwai in Thailand’s verdant Kanchanaburi region. On your way to Kanchanaburi, you will stop by Thailand’s ancient capital, Ayutthaya, for a one night stay. After enjoying time at leisure on the river Kwai, you will be transferred back to Bangkok for a domestic flight to the northern city of Chiang Rai. This part of Thailand is famous for its diverse hill tribes. Spend some time exploring the surrounding area by bike and boat and learn more about the local hill tribes with several homestay experiences. To finish the trip, you will take a domestic flight to tropical southern Thailand. Take in the natural beauty of this region by spending 2 nights in a tree house in the lush Khao Sok National Park before ending your trip with 4 nights in Khao Lak for some well-earned beach time.

Private transfer: Upon arrival in Bangkok, you will be welcomed to Thailand by your local guide and transferred to the ibis Styles Bangkok Khaosan Viengtai in a chauffeur driven car for a 3 night stay.

Guided tour to the Grand Palace & Wat Pho by public transport: After breakfast this morning, you will be met by your guide and taken on a tour of Bangkok using a range of public transport. You will travel like a local using a number of varied transport options to include klong (or canal) boat, public bus, the Chao Phraya River public ferry and the elevated BTS or Skytrain. The tour will include three of the most unusual Buddhist temples. Start at Wat Traimit with its invaluable Golden Buddha (5.5 tons of solid gold) and Wat Pho, the largest temple in Bangkok, with the colossal Reclining Buddha and the Chedis of the Kings. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant (payable locally) and afterwards, you will visit the Grand Palace which is one of the most beautiful examples of ancient Siamese architecture and has been the residence of the Kings of Thailand for over two centuries. Here you will see palaces which were used for different occasions: the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House and the beautiful Emerald Buddha Temple.

Boat trip to Ayutthaya: After an early breakfast, head to the former Thai capital, Ayutthaya, by shared boat. Glide along the picturesque Chao Praya River and have a glimpse of rural Thai life. Your journey will take you past many riverside temples including the impressive Wat Kallayanamitr. During the cruise, a sumptuous buffet lunch of traditional Thai and Western dishes will be served. After disembarking, you will be transferred to your hotel to check in and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Road journey to Kanchanaburi, via the bridge on the River Kwai: After breakfast, you will set off on the 3 hour drive to Kanchanaburi. On arrival, you will check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. En route stop by the famous bridge on the River Kwai and learn about the tragic history of this section of the Burma Death Railway. You will then transfer to long tail boat to complete your journey to your floating raft. Upon arrival at your floating raft, you will have the rest of the afternoon to relax at leisure.

Day at leisure on the River Kwai: Today is left free for you to relax and enjoy the floating raft house accommodation. You may choose to swim in the river, hire a kayak or relax in your hammock. The more adventurous may wish to try out the nearby 'Treetop Adventure'. Enjoy the day at your own pace, while soaking up the laid back vibe of Kanchanaburi.

Private transfer from Kanchanaburi to Bangkok airport: Today, you will be met at your hotel at the appropriate time by your driver and set off for Bangkok airport. This is a journey of approximately 3 hours, depending on traffic conditions.

Cycle to the White Temple: After breakfast, you will be met by your private guide who will take you to your bicycles for your morning bike ride. After a short safety briefing and personalized bicycle fitting, head out through small villages and rice fields before following the Lao River downstream. The bicycle ride is a pleasant ride through lush countryside and provides a window on to the local lifestyles of rural Thailand. Finish your cycle route with a stop at the amazing White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) and then have lunch at a local restaurant near the temple. After the tour, you will be transferred back to Chiang Rai to enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

River and boat journey to Mae Kampong: After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and together will drive to the Kok River to board a longtail boat and journey along the river towards Ta Thon. The trip along the Kok River gives ample opportunity to learn about the local lifestyles of the farmers who make their living along the river. Disembark at Ta Thon and drive for an hour and a half into the northern hill region around Mae Kampong. The district is perfect for meeting colourful hill tribes who will give you an insight into their unique lifestyle and customs. Spend the night at a local homestay this evening, giving you an incredible opportunity to live with a local family and learn some of their customs.

Transfer to the Lisu Lodge: After breakfast this morning, bid your hosts farewell, and set off for the Lisu Lodge, a drive of around 2 hours. This will be a scenic journey as you venture up into the stunning hills which surround Chiang Mai. Upon arrival, check in to your room and enjoy incredible views of the surrounding hills.
Afternoon activities: This afternoon, a local Lisu guide will take you on a walk through the village. Start from Ton Lung temple, then take a look around a herb garden and visit some local families for a cup of tea. You will then learn about some of the tribe's traditional medicine at the shaman’s house.

Morning activities: This morning, you have time to explore the local area on foot, or opt for one of the activities organised at the Lodge.
Transfer from Lisu Lodge to Chiang Mai, via Doi Suthep: At around midday, set off from the Lisu Lodge for the journey to Chiang Mai. En route to Chiang Mai, you will stop off at Doi Suthep, a magnificent temple commissioned in the 14th century. Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, you will check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day at leisure in Chiang Mai: You have a full day at leisure to relax at your hotel and explore the fascinating town of Chiang Mai at your own pace.
