Cycle in the Japanese Alps

The north of the Gifu prefecture, around the towns of Takayama and Hida, showcases rural Japan at its best and we’ve teamed up with a great local company who run a range of guided cycling tours (full day and half day) there. These well-run tours take in rural scenery, natural hot springs, local temples, farming villages and lots more. Some of the programmes also contain a short hike, ask your consultant for more details. The tours are operated as a small group, but the group size is never bigger than 8.

There is also an option for an alternative private half day tour around Hida Furakawa by e-bike instead. These high-tech bikes give the extra assistance needed to allow you to cycle further, and this tour takes you up to a peaceful shrine and a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the countryside. This isn't easily accessible on a normal mountain bike so you are likely to be the only visitors.
