Explore the East Rift Valley by bike

Cycling is a national pastime in Taiwan, and there is no better place in the country to explore by bike than the picturesque east coast. Most people explore this area by car down the scenic Highway 11, but the best way to appreciate the beauty of the area is on two wheels. The East Rift Valley, known locally as the Huadong Valley, nestled between the Central Mountain Range and Coastal Mountain Range is a stunning area ripe for exploration by bike. Largely flat with quiet roads, the area is dotted with rice fields, stunning vistas, and home to several of Taiwan’s aboriginal groups. Other than the stunning scenery the other highlight of the area is the Chishang bento lunch, the famed local speciality of Chishang township. A cycle route can easily be tailored to match the level of challenge you are looking for and your level of fitness, so please discuss this with your guide locally.
