Cycling in Mauritius

Mauritius offers some outstanding opportunities for cycling, with many quiet roads and firm off-road tracks that allow you to see more of the island and adjust to the local pace of life. There are many cycling experiences in Mauritius on offer, and we can tailor the route and terrain to match your fitness levels and interests.

Those less accustomed to cycling at home might want to consider a day exploring the island on an E-bike, with power-assisted pedalling, allowing you to enjoy the scenery with minimal physical effort. Many of our E-bike routes explore the coastal areas, including the historic region of Mahebourg, the scenic shores around Le Morne Peninsula and the colonial heritage of the Souillac region on the south coast. Inland options on e-bikes include a route around the Pamplemousses area, and the spectacular ride that descends from Chamarel to Bel Ombre on the coast. All the e-bike experiences include plenty of stops for sightseeing, and opportunities to mix with the locals going about their everyday lives.

If you are looking to burn more calories there are several routes we can offer on traditional mountain bikes. These include an East Coast explorer route that covers 25km of mainly flat wetland and beaches in the Belle Mare region, the 20km South Coast Cliffs trail exploring the rocky coastline south of Mahebourg and a more technical 30km route in the Black River Mountains.
