Dolphin watching from Mandalay

Take a private, or shared, two day boat trip from Mandalay up the Irrawaddy River to Sein Pankhone, a typical Myanmar fishing village. Here you will have an opportunity to observe a remarkable fishing technique, near the river bank, which is used by the local fishermen in co-operation with the Irrawaddy dolphins that frequent this part of the river. From a small rowing boat you will then witness how the fishermen call the dolphins, how the dolphins then chase the fish and help the fishermen to catch them by giving signals with their tails. A wonderful, not to say unique, sight to see this rare creature hunting in unison with local villagers.
