Superb snorkelling
There cannot be many better places for snorkelling than in the Seychelles. The archipelago’s unique position in the middle of the Indian Ocean makes it a perfect gathering place for marine life and therefore aquatic adventures such as snorkelling or diving.
Much of the indigenous marine life can be found swimming around the beautiful coral reefs that surround the islands, or hiding amongst the granite boulders that dot the various coastlines. With such a rich marine environment it is no surprise that even the most timid of snorkellers can see an abundance of exotic tropical fish without too much effort, and common species you might encounter include parrot fish, bat fish, butterfly fish, moray eels, scorpion fish, eagle rays, lion fish, barracudas and turtles such as the hawksbill sea turtle and the green sea turtle.
Most hotels on in the Seychelles provide snorkelling equipment, so you won’t have to bring your own, and if there isn’t a house reef where you are staying then hotel staff will be able to recommend the perfect spot for snorkelling within easy reach of the hotel – sometimes this may involve a boat trip.
