Discover wildlife at Cat Tien National Park
Cat Tien is one of Vietnam's best places for seeing wildlife, and is one of the top birdwatching destinations in the country.
Staying at the Forest Floor Lodge, the only hotel located within the Protected Area itself, allows you better chances of seeing a wide variety of wildlife. After dinner, when the day-trippers have left, there is an unmissable night drive using a spotlight to view nocturnal wildlife. Typical wildlife that can be seen includes deer, civet, guar, mongoose, macaque, snakes and other small animals.
You can also join an early morning walk through the forest before breakfast, to catch the animals at their most active. For a more challenging excursion there is the option of joining a Wild Gibbon Trek which starts before dawn to track the singing gibbons through the forest until finding a position to observe their daily rituals.
A popular activity is a flat and easy 10km round-trip trek to Crocodile Lake for opportunities to see a great variety of bird life, larger mammals and the Siamese crocodile. The crocodiles are critically endangered and this is one of the last places in the world that you can see them in the wild.
