Explore Sacred Mount Emei

Emeishan is the highest of China's four sacred Buddhist Mountains. The hike to the top is a journey undertaken by many pilgrims each year, but the less adventurous can choose to take a cable-car to Wannian Monastery. Wannian Monastery is one of the most ancient temples in the area, and was dedicated to the Bodhisattva Puxian, the protector of the mountain. Mount Emei is notable for its exceptionally rich vegetation, ranging from subtropical evergreen forests to subalpine pine forests, and its resident cheeky monkeys. You can spend a day exploring the stunning natural scenery and the beautiful temples and monasteries that are scattered around the area, or the more adventurous can explore for multiple days and overnight in the local monasteries.
