Guided hike up Mount Asahidake

Standing at 2290 metres in the northern part of the Daisetsuzan National Park, Japan’s largest National Park, Mount Asahidake is the tallest mountain on Hokkaido. This is one of Japan's most beautiful National Park areas and there are several hiking trails of varying difficulty around Asahidake which are best explored from late June through September. Hitting the trails with a knowledgeable local guide is the best way of covering the most scenic routes. The day’s hiking is flexible with the option of taking the gondola to within a two-hour hike of Mount Asahidake's summit or doing the whole thing on foot. The weather tends to deteriorate in the afternoon, so the day's guided hike is usually finished by 3pm.
