Spring Blooms in Darjeeling

Spring time in India means searing heat on the plains, fresh and cool up in the hills. Head up into the Himalayan foothills of West Bengal to escape the heat and take in some stunning spring blooms, particularly evident around Darjeeling. The area is world famous for Rhododendron blooms, with some 40 species flooding the landscape in tones of scarlet and pink. Magnolias and Michaelias are also a highlight throughout, while both Darjeeling and Kalimpong house a dizzying array of Orchid sub-species, including Cymbidiums, Vandas, Dendrobiums, Paphiopedilums, Lycaste, Odontoglossum, Phaius, and Arundina.
