Travel by bullet train
In this age where many countries are now starting to building high-speed rail networks, it must be remembered that Japan launched its famous Shinkansen (known in English as ‘the bullet train’) way back in 1964! The network has expanded to cover almost 3000km of line now and you are highly likely to be travelling on a shinkansen at some point during your tour of Japan. The Shinkansen links the islands of Honshu, Kyushu and Hoakkaido and is usually the quickest, most comfortable and most affordable way to travel long distances in Japan (especially when you are travelling using the famous Japan Rail Pass).
