The Maharaja's Express
Launched in 2010, the Maharajas Express is the newest and most upmarket luxury train service in India. It runs a variety of itineraries, either 7-nights or 4-nights in length, focusing primarily on the big-hitting highlights of northern India. 4-night itineraries start and finish in Delhi, covering the Golden Triangle and Ranthambore National Park, while 7-night trips run longer routes between Delhi and Mumbai, folding in the above as well as visits to Bikaner, Udaipur, and the awe-inspiring Ajanta caves.
Accommodation is spread across a total of 14 luxurious carriages, each designed to recreate the elegance and pageantry of the personal carriages of erstwhile Maharajas. All cabins are fully equipped with modern amenities, including digital TVs, WiFi, ample storage space, air-conditioning, and en-suite bathrooms with shower cubicles. Each carefully curated itinerary takes passengers through the premier destinations of the Indian subcontinent, focusing on big-hitting travel highlights as well as a host of intriguing cultural interactions. There are two gourmet dining cars on board, a well-stocked bar, a comfortable lounge car, and a comprehensive library.
