Climb the Yellow Mountain

Huang Shan (Yellow Mountain) is probably China’s most famous mountain and has been a tourist attraction for centuries. If you have ever seen a traditional Chinese painting of mountain scenery, you have probably been looking at Huangshan. The Yellow Mountain is known as being the 'most beautiful mountain in China',and the mountain and its surrounding landscapes can be mesmerising if caught on a good day. In 1990 it was listed as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

There are a number of ways to reach the summit: climbing either the Western or Eastern steps, or by taking the cable car. Whichever way you choose to do it a journey to the top can be richly rewarding especially if either the visibility is excellent or alternatively if a blanket of clouds sits on the valley below allowing only the hilltops to gently poke through. After checking into your hotel on arrival at the summit you will have time to explore the wondrous scenery. There are the options of easy walks or more challenging routes. Visit Brush Pen Peak, Lion Peak and the West Sea Grand Canyon. If the weather is fine you may be lucky enough to witness the spectacular sunset from the Cloud Dispelling Pavilion.
