Traverse Lake Tonle Sap

A rewarding way to travel between Siem Reap and Battambang is by boat, crossing Tonle Sap Lake and navigating the Sangker River. As you traverse the waterways of northern Cambodia enjoy views of the Cambodian landscape and scenes of daily life along the river - look out for the elaborate fish traps which look like giant spiders perched over the water. En route you will pass several floating villages, where the houses stand on stilts as high as seven metres above the water. Everything lives on the water, pigs, dogs, crocodiles and people, all jockeying for space in these incredible floating towns. The vessels that we use are private wooden boats with ample space and a local-style bathroom. This fascinating cruise takes approximately 6-7 hours cruise when the water levels in the lake are high between the months of October and January - we do not recommend this experience when water levels are low in the other months of the year.
